I hope to make it this month for the open stage at Blackdog cafe, and plan on doing a rather dramatic dance, plus a fun one if there is time. See the Joyful movement page for more information.
From Sendero Flameno: The Gathering of the Gypsies is a unique open stage event. Hosted at Black Dog Coffee & Wine Bar, these monthly events promote creativity, community and collaboration. (That's in Lowertown, St. Paul, across from the farmers market, to the Northeast). [Note to my students and anyone interested - see the values involved, and compare to what we talked about as Jewish values].
Performances by Sendero Flamenco. Open Stage for low pressure, family-friendly experimentation, collaboration and performance in a classy, tasteful venue. Bring instruments, dance shoes, come in costume if you wish.
You can find values of community and joy at this event, but for my world religions students, you might find it easier to see the connection between religion and arts at Ragamala Indian dance events.
See: www.ragamala.net for a calendar of events.
For Jewish events try jewishminnesota.org, or TempleIsrael.com
For theatre events you might enjoy this one - a little late for papers, but OpenEye Theatre is presenting
The Learning Fairy. Play is important, and valued in many religions.

Zoe Sommers Haas creates a new work for all ages embracing rock and roll, the magic of theater, and the value of playing!
