I was among 500+ Jews who attended the event listed below. Discrimination is wrong, period - including discrimination against gays. Valid science tells us that it is the way a person is born, and not a choice.
Some people argue that "the bible says..." What in truth the Torah/Bible message is mostly about is "Love your neighbor as yourself." That is the greater law. If you have problems with this, I highly recommend reading the powerful statement made by the rabbis (link below via the website provided).
Issues of rights in domestic partnership are an issue we must deal with in our society. There are all sorts of partnerships, well beyond man-woman marriage. Not recognizing them for legal purposes causes harm to many. This is an issue that goes beyond gay rights, and is worth addressing. However...
FOR NOW, WE ARE GIVEN A CHOICE TO CONDONE OR TURN DOWN DISCRIMINATION.
A NO VOTE MEANS YOU VOTE NOT TO DISCRIMINATE.

TAKING A STAND ON MARRIAGE EQUALITY
Just Vote No: Engaging and Educating the Jewish Community to Defeat the Marriage
Amendment.

Jewish Community Action’s board has voted to take a stand for marriage equality.
The
board action in September sets the stage for a major JCA organizing effort
to defeat the 2012 ballot question that would enshrine discrimination into the
state constitution. Voters will be asked to define marriage as only between men
and women.
How do we stop this move to limit rights of same-sex couples? We develop leaders willing to motivate and mobilize our community by telling their stories and encouraging others to do the same.
To help lead this effort, join the JCA Marriage Equality Working Group. For more information, contact Adele Brown at adele@jewishcommunityaction.org or 651-632-2184.

BREAKING NEWS ON THE MINNESOTA MARRIAGE AMENDMENT!
The Minnesota Rabbinical Association has released a
statement opposing the proposed marriage amendment and urging all "persons
of faith" to vote against it this November. The
Star Tribune ran the story this morning.
Also today, a federal court ruled that
California's same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional. Let's keep the
momentum going and make sure that we never have to take the issue to the courts
here in Minnesota. Get involved by coming to our organizational event on March
4th, or by
donating to JCA. We also need office support and volunteers for phone banks.
